Construction of a new substation in Mehringen

Information

On behalf of Avacon Netz GmbH, EQOS Energie constructed a 110-kV system for the Mehringen substation. The project is a key component of the replacement construction along the Stade-Landesbergen corridor and strengthens the security of supply at both the regional and national level.

The modern grid infrastructure will enable higher electricity capacities to be transmitted in the future. This major project was completed on schedule between May 2023 and January 2025. The technical core of the new facility includes eight line bays, a reactor bay, and a coupler bay as well as a triple busbar

The scope of work for the project covered the entire spectrum: In addition to the electrical installation work in the operations building and the control cells, the team was responsible for the primary installation – including the positioning, stranding and piping of the high-voltage equipment – as well as the secondary installation including cable stringing and cabinet connections. Final transformer tests, tests of the secondary systems, and precise earthing measurements ensure the reliable operation of the central power distribution system.

The project goal was to build a high-performance infrastructure for the central power distribution system of the distribution network operator.
