Substations

Energy transformation requires stable grids

Substations in transport and distribution networks are our core expertise. Trust in our knowledge when it comes to safeguarding your power supply.

The transformation of the energy industry poses new challenges for the distribution networks: Green electricity is produced where sufficient wind or solar energy is available. This means, for example, that large amounts of wind energy have to be transported from the north of Germany to the south of the country. By 2030, 100 per cent of Austria’s electricity supply is to be covered by renewable energy sources. What does this mean for the existing grids? Electricity flows will increase significantly. There will also be more frequent fluctuations in the flow of electricity. For these reasons, the transmission capacities of old lines are already hitting their limits. EQOS Energie therefore applies its special expertise in energy technology to ensure grid stability and thus a dependable and secure power supply.

Power fluctuations do not stop at national borders. Transmission system operators from Germany and Austria already collaborate in order to balance out fluctuations internationally. EQOS Energie is active in both markets and cooperates with all major companies. We support our customers in the expansion and maintenance of the transmission (TSO) and distribution (DSO) grids. This includes new construction as well as the expansion and conversion of existing substations and cable systems during ongoing operations.

High-voltage systems

The distribution of electricity requires high-voltage systems across the various network levels. With our sound expertise in primary and secondary technology, we are more than just a competent partner: EQOS Energie supports you in your projects from planning and new construction or remodelling of your buildings all the way to the maintenance and disassembly of switchgears. Furthermore, we are a Siemens Solution Partner for SIPROTEC protection technology and SICAM control technology.

Construction of switchgears from 110 to 420 kV:

  • Conceptualisation, planning, assembly and connection of primary and secondary technology
  • Implementation of required permitting procedures
  • Civil engineering, construction of foundations for equipment tables, transformers, and portals
  • Construction of operations buildings and transformer stations
  • Delivery and assembly of the steel construction and the primary technical equipment
  • Construction of the earthing systems
  • Fitting and connection of control and protection technology for auxiliary systems
  • Electrical measurements as well as testing and calibration of all system components
  • Parametrisation and commissioning
  • Modernisation, maintenance, and servicing of the systems
  • After-sales service

Standardised substations for feeding in solar and wind energy

Power grids must also become more flexible in the future. More and more regional and local producers want to feed their electricity from photovoltaic systems or wind farms into the grid. To this end, EQOS Energie also plans and constructs so-called “sockets” for solar and wind energy and battery storage systems. These are small substations (feed-in points) that enable efficient direct feed-in into the high-voltage grid.

Our comprehensive offering for you: In addition to procuring the necessary high- and medium-voltage equipment, we offer you turnkey project management including standardised solutions for steel construction, civil engineering and structural engineering. We also provide you with standardised protection and control technology.
