Construction of a catenary system for the Koralmbahn railway line

Information

EQOS Energie was commissioned by ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG with the construction of a catenary system for the Koralmbahn railway line on the Styrian section of the line. Specifically, this project covered the section between the Puntigam and Wundschuh stations, which is just under nine kilometres.

A total of approximately 200 masts were installed along the open track and in the trough area. On the three-kilometre tunnelled section of the line, drilling work, the relocation of anchors, and the installation of the conductor rail were also performed. Additionally, grounding work was done along the entire project section. Approximately 12 kilometres of overhead lines and 30 kilometres of return conductors were installed. Finally, the project was rounded out with test runs and the necessary commissioning and decommissioning procedures.

Overall project duration was almost two years. The work involved the deployment of up to 10 fitters from EQOS Energie who were on site simultaneously to ensure the project was completed quickly and on schedule.
